When Penny Halliwell dies, Prue, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell soon discovered that their beloved Grams left them more than most people leave their families. Phoebe, the youngest sister, found a book in the attic. But this wasn't any ordinary book. It was The Book of Shadows. Past down from generation to generation, The Book of Shadows was full of spells and pictures of demons and warlocks, all added to the book by past Halliwells. Past Halliwell witches. The book also told of a power that would arrive to three sister witches who would be known as the Charmed Ones. The Charmed Ones were prophesized to be the most powerful good witches there would ever be. And when Phoebe opened the book and read what she soon found out to be an incantation, the power of the Charmed Ones was awakened.
          The key to their power was in their relationship as sisters. Only together could they fight all the demons and evil beings that would come after their powers. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe weren’t very close before their Grams died, but they had no choice but to put that all behind them. And soon they were closer than ever. It wasn’t easy being the Charmed Ones. Evil was constantly attacking and having a “normal” life was nearly impossible. For three years things were going as well as they could under the circumstances, until a powerful demon named Shax attacked and left them short a sister- and Charmed One.
          With Prue gone, all hope for the Charmed Ones seemed to be lost. Until a past secret is uncovered. The sisters had known their mother had had an affair with her whitelighter Sam before she was killed, but none of them knew they had a half witch, half whitelighter child together. When Piper and Phoebe find their half sister, Paige, the Power of Three is reconstituted.
          It takes a little time for them to warm up to Paige, especially for Piper who was extremely close to Prue, but when they do it’s like they had known each other their whole lives. The new Power of Three continues to do their job and save innocents. Well, until the threat of an ultimate power arrives and they have to fight to save their own lives, anyway. It was a tough battle, and a lot was at stake, but in the end they pull through. With this threat gone life was a lot easier, and Piper, Phoebe, and Paige were finally able to have the normal, well almost normal, lives they had always wanted.
